Biker Chick

I bought a bike! I was recently at the beach with my husband and his family and we rented bikes and rode them on the boardwalk one morning. I was very nervous because I had not been on a bike in years. As a matter of fact, I can't remember the last time I rode a bike! I picked out a snazzy purple bike with a fun bell and we set off. I was a nervous wreck! I remember loving riding my bike as a child...but now that I am older I have a greater sense of my mortality and have steered clear of most things that I don't have total control over. Once on the boardwalk, people were zooming past me at breakneck speed...ok...that may be a bit of an exaggeration but my husband, my father-in-law (my mother-in-law opted out of the morning bike ride) and my sister-in-law tried to stay with me as I wobbled slowly down the boardwalk.  My brother-in-law and two nephews were so far ahead that I couldn't even see them. Finally we made it to the end of the boardwalk and had breakfast and I felt such relief, until we were finishing up our meal and I realized that I would have to peddle all the way back to where we started! I am not sure if it was the rest or the delicious breakfast, but the ride back went much more smoothly! I enjoyed the ride and decided to get my own bike and give it a try. Get out in the fresh air, get some exercise and enjoy the scenery! My bike should arrive in a about a week or so...wish me luck! Now all I need is my very own bell!
